Ordell based non-profit works to teach teens about dating abuse

Jewish Family Service and County Sheriff bring ID Theft and Safety Program to Teaneck Nutrition Site
July 21, 2011 – Teaneck - Jewish Family Service of Bergen and North Hudson (JFS) arranged for Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino to educate local older adults about identity theft and safety. The Sheriff provided the group with information about how to recognize an identity theft scam such as mail without a return address and phone calls asking for personal information. Read full article.

JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE WINS NATIONAL AWARD FOR FAR-REACHING HUNGER CAMPAIGN
May 23, 2011 - Teaneck - An empty grocery bag reminding us that there are many in the community going without. A bicycle made up of a plate and utensils promoting a cycling event spearheaded by an entrepreneurial 16-year-old. “Night of 100 Dinners,” an event with neighbors inviting neighbors into their homes for a special meal, all to raise money for those who struggle to feed their families every day. JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE IS AWARDED STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT (VAWA) GRANT
AWARD WILL ASSIST VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
August 11, 2010 – Jewish Family Service of Bergen and North Hudson (JFS) has been awarded a $45,000 STOP Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Grant through the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety. JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE WINS AMERICORPS GRANT
AWARD WILL IMPROVE STUDENT LITERACY IN NORTH BERGEN
July 28, 2010 – Jewish Family Service of Bergen and North Hudson (JFS) has been awarded a $104,000 AmeriCorps grant through the New Jersey Commission on National & Community Service. JFS OF BERGEN AND NORTH HUDSON HOLDS ITS VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION DINNER
June 8, 2010 – Jewish Family Service of Bergen and North Hudson (JFS) honored all its devoted volunteers at its Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, June 8th at the Jewish Community Center of Paramus. Approximately 100 guests were in attendance to celebrate the Agency’s volunteers: more than 200 people who volunteer their time and energy as JFS’ helping hands to the community. JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE WINS MENTORING GRANT FROM NATIONAL ORGANIZATION
AWARD WILL HELP MEET EMERGING NEEDS OF AGING COMMUNITY
April 13, 2010 - Jewish Family Service of Bergen and North Hudson (JFS) has been awarded a 12-month, $9,500 grant from the national membership organization Alliance for Children and Families to receive mentoring assistance to enhance the services it provides to aging adults. JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE RELAUNCHES JOB SEARCH NETWORK
March 23, 2010 – Jewish Family Service of Bergen and North Hudson (JFS) relaunches its employment services department – Job Search Network (JSN), with a new director.
Bob Franco, JFS’ Director of Job Search Network (JSN), joined the agency earlier this month. He comes with a remarkable wealth of experience to successfully lead JSN in providing quality services to both job seekers and employers in the community. To read more, view JSN Relaunched.
Rather than receive gifts for his Bar Mitzvah, DD Naiman of Teaneck wanted to give. Working with the Bonim Builders, DD helped construct a handicap ramp at the home of Wilma Jones – a 90-year old wheelchair bound JFS client.
