We Care About Our Elders
Mrs. M. and her husband, both Holocaust survivors, became clients of Jewish Family Service. Mr. M. needed home care and we helped to provide that care through a grant from the Claims Conference until he passed away. Shortly after that, Mrs. M. was hospitalized. When she returned home, the care management team of JFS was there to help!
Mrs. M. received meals through our Kosher Meals on Wheels Program. JFS arranged for a cleaning service and safety bars were installed in her bathroom. We were able to get her a special walker, pay one month’s rent through emergency assistance funds, and give her some extra home health aide hours she desperately needed.
JFS continues to this day to provide a weekly Shabbat meal and Mrs. M. is also part of our Adopt-A-Bubbe program. One of her visitors always picks up groceries for her before coming to visit, and has taken her to community events held in The Living Room.
A Special Thank You
“I am taking this moment to thank you and Jewish Family Service for the outstanding benevolence and generosity that has been extended to my mother… how in the world can I thank you enough for that?” – Sarah, the daughter of Mrs. M.
Services for Holocaust Survivors are funded in part by the Claims Conference.
