The Story of Amy and Paul
Paul is a 38-year-old married father of two. About nine months ago, he was laid off from his job in the finance industry in New York. Amy, his wife, had not worked outside the home for the past ten years, raising their children. Any money that was saved by the family went to pay for their son’s private school for his special needs. When the family came to JFS, foreclosure action was being taken. JFS helped the family move into a two bedroom apartment, paying for moving expenses and the security deposit. To help keep food on the table, the Agency gave supermaket gift cards. Amy was also referred to a job training program to re-enter the workforce.
